SC-AGI Members

People active in SC-AGI

The SCAR Circular 766 (Dec. 2006) calls SCAR member countries to nominate National Representatives to SC-AGI as points of contact for all issues related to the work of the group. Respective persons should have a working knowledge on place names, map production, or co-ordination of surveying and GI projects in Antarctica.

A country may have more than one person attending SCAGI meetings but
can have only one vote when voting on policy issues. Where there are two
or more people from one country at a SCAGI meeting they must agree
between them who is the leader of the national group and thus has the
vote (NR).

If a country has experts in names on the one hand (N-EXP) and GIS on the
other hand (EXP), who represent different national departments and / or
national committees, then both of those people may attend SCAGI meetings
and have input to SCAGI intersessionally. Where this is the case, we
would encourage both of those people to make inputs in their separate
fields of expertise and if possible to attend SCAGI meetings. This is
the situation in many countries where authorities responsible for
mapping on the one hand and names on the other hand are from different
departments.
