The Antarctic Spatial Data Infrastructure is built on a service oriented architecture. The technical implementation of the geospatial web services is based on the specifications of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). The services can be used with clients that implement the respective OGC interfaces.

In its March/April 2007 Newsletter OGC has featured AntSDI and the Antarctic Digital Database Webservices as Website of the Month. THe SCAR King George Island GIS Webservices have been acknowleged in the October 2004 Newsletter of OGC.
